Arthur Webb, Whiddon

Glenfield, NSW

For over 70 years, Whiddon has been widely regarded as an industry leader in aged care. Catering to regional, remote and rural communities in NSW and QLD, Whiddon offers a large variety of support and lifestyles, ranging from community care to residential living. Their Glenfield location includes both a retirement village as well as a residential care facility. Both of these are integral to the local community and therefore residents are encouraged to lead inclusive, social and holistic lives.

The Client's Challenge

According to a WHO report, more than 30% of adults over the age of 65 experience at least one serious fall during any given year. Therefore, it is vital that aged care providers are able to effectively and efficiently monitor their residents’ most important health indicators. In an attempt to better understand and monitor falls, Whiddon, in conjunction with it’s technology partner Talius, received a grant from ARIIA (Aged Care Research and Industry Innovation Australia) as part of the BEST CARE (Building Excellence in Sensor Technology – Clinical Assessment Response Experience) initiative. Whiddon approached NCIS to manage the rollout of this revolutionary technology for 46 beds.

The NCIS Solution

Working on behalf of Talius, NCIS successfully rolled out the integration of numerous wearable RTLS (Real-time locating systems) and Bluetooth Gateways at Whiddon Glenfield. Using Talius Group’s exhaustive selection of care solutions, these sensors now notify staff when a resident is likely to have a fall, allowing the team at Whiddon Glenfield to be more proactive, rather than reactive. Talius Falls Radar has the potential to be revolutionary in the aged care sector, and when partnered with Talius’ Sleep Sense and AI technology. The Austco Nurse Call functionality remains as we have created a high level interface which collects all the existing alarms into the Talius platform. NCIS has helped to provide residents of Arthur Webb, Whiddon with future proofed and potentially lifesaving technology.
